Rail disruption at Huyton – 5 to 13 July

Published on: Thursday, 03-July-2014

Over the next five years, Network Rail is working with partners to deliver over £1bn of investment which will enable faster, more frequent train services to run across the north.

Over the last year, Network Rail has been working to:-

  • Install a new track to provide an overtaking lane for fast services
  • Upgrade the station facilities and improve access at Huyton and Roby
  • Install equipment for the electrification of the line
  • Make improvements to the track and bridges to increase the line speed
  • Most of this work has been completed whilst maintaining train services across the route.

In order to carry out the phase of work, there will be a 9 day closure of the line between 5 to 13 July between Edge Hill and St Helens Junction station on the Liverpool to Manchester route, and the whole of the Huyton and St Helens Line.

Alternative travel arrangements have been put in place by the train operators – for further details, visit www.nationalrail.co.uk/huyton
