A new pedestrian crossing was recently introduced on the A5080 Cronton Road in Huyton.

This road is a very well-used route for traffic to access the motorway network, Huyton Village and Huyton Business Park and it is lined with housing on either side. The new controlled crossing now provides a safe and easy place for local residents to cross this road and access local amenities together with bus services.Cllr Frank Walsh with Peter Gray, Highways Engineer at Knowsley Council and Sean Barrington, Maintenance Engineer at Siemens.

Cllr Frank Walsh, St Gabriel’s ward member in Huyton said: “I am pleased to see this new crossing in place. The traffic on this road can become very busy at times and local residents were keen to have something in place to help people to cross the road safely. We take road safety very seriously in Knowsley and this is part of our continuing work to improve Knowsley’s roads network and road safety in the borough.”

The construction of the new signalised crossing was funded by Knowsley Council and Siemens were contracted to carry out the work.
