Knowsley Local Plan Core Strategy: Update

Published on: Monday, 30-June-2014

Knowsley’s Local Plan outlines how the borough will develop in the future. It sets out a vision and strategy for the development of Knowsley and its communities up to 2028 and will ensure Knowsley is the "Borough of Choice".

The ‘Core Strategy’ part of the plan is currently subject to an Examination in Public by a Government Inspector. As part of the Examination, initial hearing sessions took place in November 2013.

Following these hearings, the Inspector raised a number of issues regarding the soundness of the current Plan. The council has subsequently identified parts of the Plan which it proposes should be changed to address the Inspector’s issues.

These changes were approved by Cabinet on 18 June 2014 and are set out in a schedule of “modifications” which is available to view on the council’s website

Further public hearings will take place on the 22 - 23 July (and possibly 24 July) and these will be followed by a public consultation period over the summer of 2014, providing you with another opportunity to have your say on the Plan.

Further information about the Examination, hearings and consultation period, is available on the Council’s website at: Key documents are also available to view at the Council’s libraries and One Stop Shops during normal opening hours.
