Know the signs of cancer in Knowsley

Published on: Friday, 30-May-2014

Merseyside and Cheshire Cancer Network’s iVAN is once again hitting the streets in Knowsley, helping to raise awareness and early detection of cancer.

Cancer specialists will be on-hand to identify symptoms, refer residents to their GP, offer support as well as raising awareness of the issue.

The van will be in Kirkby town centre on Friday, 6 June (between 10am and 4pm) and at the Prescot Carnival on Brown’s Field, Wood Lane from 12.00 noon.

No appointment is necessary and people can talk to one of the Cancer Information Specialists or a Cancer Specialist Nurse face-to-face. It’s free and completely confidential.

Matthew Ashton, Director of Public Health in Knowsley said “One of our priorities is raising awareness of the signs and symptoms of cancer, as well as improving early detection rates.  The iVAN is the ideal way to help us engage with residents and help residents know what to look out for.  A visit to the iVAN really can save lives.”
