Great time had by all at Prescot’s Elizabethan Fayre

The sun shone on around a thousand visitors to this year’s Prescot’s Elizabethan Fayre on Saturday 6 June.

The town celebrated its wonderful heritage, recreating the old May Fayres that were held in Prescot, during the era of the first Queen Elizabeth. Knowsley Community College students brought the past to life with maypole dances and a heritage trail around the town. Hands-on pottery at the Prescot Elizabethan Fayre

The entertainment had a distinctly Tudor feel with traditional crafts such as pottery, basket making, spinning, willow making and wood turning.

Visitors also enjoyed, live medieval music and craft stalls. There were birds of prey demonstrations, circus skills workshops and free face painting for children.

Photographs capturing all the highlights of the fayre are available on flickr.
