A growing network of mums in Knowsley

Published on: Monday, 02-March-2015

A group of Knowsley mums and nans have come together to form a network for local mums to support each other on all family and health related matters.

The growing network - known as Mums for Health – brings mums together to talk about the ups and downs of parenting.

Ten mums and nans volunteered to start the group. They have been getting up to speed with the local support that is on offer for mums and mums-to-be, so they are able to point those who need help in the right direction. Mums for Health volunteers

Being part of the network gives mums the confidence and know how to make informed and healthier decisions for themselves and their families.

“Mums for Health is a really good way to meet lots of different mums from Knowsley. Not only have we been able to share our experiences and top tips as mums, we now also know that we’re not on our own and there’s lots of mums out there who’ve gone through the same things as us”.

Matthew Ashton, Director of Public Health in Knowsley, said:

“There’s lots of really good health and family information and support available for parents in the borough. It’s fantastic that as part of their network Mums for Health is helping raise awareness of what support is out there, and  helping to make sure anyone who could benefit doesn’t miss out.”
