Apprentice Hospitality Team Member - Down in Albion - REF: K002

Down in Albion is a town centre based coffee shop/bistro which was launched in 2018 following the success of The Albion Bakehouse. Due to this expansion, the team are looking to take on a dedicated Hospitality Team Member. They currently employ 18 staff and have had previous apprentices who have all been kept on in full-time employment.

Key responsibilities for the role:

  • Day to day running of the kitchen space
  • Ensuring adequate crockery/cutlery is clean and available for service
  • Maintaining stock control and putting stock away
  • Running food if required
  • Cleaning food prep areas
  • Ensuring basic cleaning jobs are carried out as quickly as possible
  • Keeping the store room in good tidy order
  • Barista skills and simple food prep
  • Food preparation and production
  • Following food hygiene procedures
  • Maintaining food safety and quality

Key skills to be sucessful in your application:

  • Must be available weekends
  • Be able to work as part of a close knit team
  • Have dish washing and cleaning experience
  • Some customer service experience is beneficial but not essential
  • Excellent time keeping and attendance
  • Ability to work under pressure especially at busy times

Hourly rate of pay: National Minimum Wage + tips

Top tips for filling in the application form:

  • Make sure you take your time. Don’t rush as you may make mistakes!

  • Make sure any writing is neat and easy to read, and check your spelling.
  • Answer all questions and fill in all the boxes/spaces.
  • If there are gaps in your employment history, say what you were doing during that time. If you've have never had a job, you could include examples such as voluntary work, or involvement with outside clubs or organisations.
  • Make sure you sell your skills; this could also include things you have developed outside work such as interests and hobbies. This is an opportunity for you to promote yourself to the employer and is your opportunity to explain to the employer why they should employ you!
