A Dementia Friendly Strategy for Knowsley

Knowsley Council is working with partners, businesses and the local community to develop a strategy to make Knowsley a dementia friendly borough by 2020.

The purpose of the joint strategy is to set out how, as a partnership, we will achieve this and what priority areas we will focus on to become a dementia friendly borough by 2020. It is also to ensure that people with dementia and their carers can be supported better in our local community.

We all have a part to play in making this happen, and through Knowsley Better Together (bringing people and organisations together), more can be achieved for the benefit of Knowsley and its residents.

What is a 'dementia friendly' community?

People living with dementia have told us that a dementia friendly community is one which supports them to:

  • Carry on doing the same things they have always done such as going to the shops, getting on a bus, playing golf or simply sitting in a park
  • Find their way around and feel safe
  • Keep in touch with people and feel that they belong in their community

Your views matter

We want to find out how people living with dementia are supported in Knowsley, what facilities or services they use, what helps them and what difficulties they experience. We would also like you to tell us what makes Knowsley a good place to live for people with dementia and what more should be done in order to make Knowsley a dementia friendly borough by 2020.

Please share your thoughts and complete this online survey or fill out this form by Friday 29 June 2018.
