Park View and Roby Park

Consultation is being undertaken on school organisation proposals for Park View and Roby Park Primary Schools.

The proposal is to close Park View Community Primary School, Twig Lane, Huyton, L36 2LL and transfer pupils to the roll of Roby Park Community Primary School, Easton Road, Huyton, L36 4NY, with effect from 1 January 2013.

This will involve the modernisation and expansion of the Roby Park site and the closure of the Park View site.

If the proposal is agreed, the Directorate of Children and Family Services will arrange for all pupils on roll at Park View Community Primary School to be transferred to the roll of Roby Park Community Primary School. This does not affect the rights of parents and carers to apply for a place at another school.

Rationale for the proposal

The combined pupil populations of the two schools point to a viable two form entry school
The proposal will remove 246 surplus places for the area
A feasibility study conducted has identified that Roby Park site as the most viable for reconfiguration to accommodate a two form entry primary school
The communities served by the to schools display significant overlap

The consultation period has been extended and will run until 19 January 2012, during which interested parties are requested to submit their views on the proposals.
