Cycle routes
Trans Pennine Trail
Within Knowsley the Trail passes through Halewood mostly as an off-road route and is signposted throughout. As the Trail enters Knowsley it runs over the former Liverpool Loop Line, through Halewood Park, for approximately 2.3kms. This section of the Trail provides an ideal opportunity for families to cycle together and enjoy the facilities which the park has to offer. After leaving Halewood Park the Trail reaches Higher Road where there is a Toucan Crossing to assist both pedestrians and cyclists across the road. On crossing Higher Road, the Trail reaches Blackburne Drive where it continues for a short distance until it reaches the locally named ‘Dista Field’.
On reaching the ‘Dista Field’ the Trail reverts to an off road route where it continues to the Boulevard Industry Park. On entering the Boulevard Industry Park the Trail continues as an off road route running adjacent to Renaissance Way until it reaches South Road.
On reaching South Road the Trail continues in an easterly direction until it reaches the underpass where the Trail passes into Liverpool.

- Reduced traffic speeds and volumes allow cyclists to share the road with vehicles
- Quieter streets and increased ease of crossing enhance the environment
- Lower traffic speeds improve safety.
