Licences – Weighbridges
Weighbridge attendants should hold a
certificate issued by the Chief
Inspector of Weights and Measures to
prevent the owner of the weighbridge
and the weighbridge attendant from
being guilty of an offence. To obtain
this certificate, a test must be taken.
The maximum penalty for fraud in connection with a public weighting is a fine of £5,000 or 6 months imprisonment or both. The maximum penalty for recording a false weight is a fine of £5,000.
