Car parking badges
The Blue Badge Scheme provides a
national arrangement of parking
concessions for the following:
- People with permanent and substantial disabilities which means you are unable to or have difficulty walking (who travel either as a driver or passenger)
- People over 75 and have considerable difficulty in walking
- People with severe upper limb disabilities who regularly drive a vehicle but cannot turn a steering wheel by hand even if the wheel is fitted with a turning handle
- People registered as blind
- People who receive the higher rate of the mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance
- People who receive a War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement
- People who use a motor vehicle supplied for disabled people by a Government health department.
- Institutions that use a vehicle to transport disabled people
It allows badge holders to park close
to their destination, but the national
concessions apply only to on-street
parking.
How to apply
If you wish to apply for a blue badge, you can download the application form below or call in at any Knowsley One Stop Shop.Along with your application form, please provide 2 passport size photographs, your most recently qualifying benefit award letter i.e. disability living allowance etc [you can bring your book but the badge will only be eligible up to the last date in the book]. There is also a £2 administration charge.
If you apply but do not have a qualifying benefit you will have to undergo a medical. Institutions need to write to us on headed paper providing details of the vehicle and how the vehicle is used.

Select the 'sundry debt' option and enter 'blue badge' in the account number field and complete the remaining fields as requested.
