Abandoned vehicles
An abandoned vehicle is classed as a
vehicle that is not stolen, has no
registered keeper, and has been left
on a public highway.
If you are aware of any abandoned vehicles in your area, please report them on the Environmental Helpline: 0151 443 2400.
After placing your call we will:

After placing your call we will:
- Respond to your complaints within three working days
- Inspect vehicles suspected as being abandoned to find out:
- If the vehicle has a registered keeper
- Is it an end of life vehicle (not stolen or registered)
- If it is a stolen vehicle
- If it is burnt out
If on the first inspection a vehicle
is classed as 2 above, then a twenty-
four hour notice will be placed on the
windscreen advising of the action to
follow. If the vehicle is not claimed
then it will be handed over to a
designated scrap agent for disposal.
If the vehicle is classed as 1 or 3 above, then the Police will be informed.
If on the first inspection a vehicle is classed as 4 above, then the Police will be notified and they will make arrangements for it’s disposal.
If the vehicle is classed as 1 or 3 above, then the Police will be informed.
