Sporting Talent Card

If you are a talented sports performer in Knowsley then you could be entitled to a Knowsley Sporting Talent Card.

The card gives you free or subsidised access to a range of high quality local Council Leisure Facilities.  The aim is to give promising athletes in Knowsley the support they need to compete at national level and potentially 2012 London Olympic Games and beyond.

The card will reduce the burden of training costs and the scheme is open to athletes at any age residing in Knowsley.  Why not see if you are entitled to a Gold or Silver Card?

The Dickie Bird Foundation

The Foundation offer grants to children under 18 yrs on receipt of their application, to participate in the sport of their choice, to the best of their ability, irrespective of their background, social circumstances, culture or ethnicity and to  ensure that , in doing so, they improve their chances both inside and outside sport.

Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme

The Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) is a Government funded programme that represents a unique partnership between sport and higher and further education.

The programme awards Scholarships and Bursaries to talented athletes that are committed to combining their sport and education. It aims to reduce the drop out of talented athletes from sport and supports and develops the talent of today for sporting success in the future. Scholarships are available to 16 to 25 year old sportspeople. The level of support can be up to the maximum of £3500.

Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme 2012

The TASS 2012 scholarship programme is designed for talented athletes that have the potential to be a future medallist at the winter and summer Olympics. The scheme aims to fast track athletes onto World Class programmes. TASS 2012 runs alongside the main TASS programme. The scholarship awards each athlete with £10,000 per annum to help with access to world class facilities, coaching and support services.

Merseyside Sports Bursaries

The Merseyside Sports Bursary Fund helps aspiring young sportsmen and women through the support invested through sponsorship of events and administered by Merseyside Sports Council, with a panel assessing each of the applications with monitoring and evaluation managed by Merseyside Sports Partnership.  The fund will work with the National Governing Bodies of Sport and Local Authority Sports Development Officers to identify young athletes in need of financial support to help them to achieve their sporting potential. Grants of up to £200 are given to performers.

Ron Pickering Memorial Fund

The Fund is dedicated to assisting aspiring young athletes who have shown by their attitude and dedication that they possess the qualities which will ensure the growth and protection of sport.

SportsAid

SportsAid has focused on giving grants to youngsters aged 12 to 18, from 50 able-bodied and 25 disability sports. These athletes compete in national squads and these grants, generally worth £500, help with costs such as travel, training, accommodation, competition fees and equipment.
