Knowsley Sport and Physical Activity Awards 2011 will showcase
and recognise the boroughs outstanding achievers and performers who
have made a real difference to school sport, community sport and
impacted on individual’s health and wellbeing.
The annual event will celebrate and recognise people who work
tirelessly behind the scenes to inspire people of all ages in
Knowsley to get active and strive forgreat achievements.
Winners in identified categories will also represent Knowsley at
the Merseyside Future Champions Dinner 2011 at: The Britannia
Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool on Friday 11th November.
The event is organised by Knowsley’s Sport and Physical Activity
Alliance whose vision is to “improve people’s lives through sport
and physical activity”.
Categories
(Categories 1-6 winners will automatically represent Knowsley at
Merseyside Future Sporting Champions Dinner 2011, Friday 11th
November).
All categories are fully inclusive; although there is a separate
category to recognise the achievement within disability sport and
physical activity.
1. Club of the Year
A sports club which has made the most significant impact,
achievement or contribution to the development of sport in the
community.
2. Coach of the Year
This award will be presented to a coach/team manager in
recognition of their involvement, dedication and achievement within
their chosen sport and who have made a significant impact or
contribution to the development of performers in
their sport.
3. Volunteer of the Year
This award will be presented to an individual who has made a
significant impact, achievement or contribution behind the scenes
to their sport, club or school in a volunteering capacity.
4. Young Sports Person of the Year (Under 18s)
This award will be presented to an individual, under the age of
18 years,
in recognition of their commitment and achievement to their chosen
sport. Nominees should have achieved a high standard in sport, at
local, regional or national level.
5. Lifetime Achievement Award
This award will be presented to an individual who has provided
an outstanding long term service, commitment and dedication to
sport.
6. Young Volunteer of the Year (5-19 years)
This award aims to recognise the outstanding work that young
volunteers aged 5-19 years olds have made in terms of leading
sessions in school or college settings, including Playground
Leaders, Young Ambassadors and Sport Leaders who have assisted in
the delivery of sport and acted as a role model to others.
7. Contribution to School Sports Award
This award is aimed at PE /Sport staff members who have shown an
outstanding commitment and achievement to intra/extra curricular
sport and physical activity whilst also promoting and embodying the
ethos and spirit of schools sports and PE
both within his / her school and the community.
8. School Sports Team
Achievement of the Year
This is for any individual or school/college team that has achieved
great success in their sport in a school/college based
competition.
9. Disability Sport and Physical Activity Achievement
Award
This award aims to recognise a person who as made a significant
contribution, achievement or improvement in their development as a
disabled sport or physical
activity participant.
10. Adult Active Achiever of the Year Award
This award is for any individual, over the age of 19, who has
improved their
health and wellbeing by greatly increasing their physical activity
levels.
Someone who has made lifestyle changes to build in regular
activity as part of their daily living.
Changes may include switching from car/bus use to walking or
cycling, becoming a regular member of an activity group and or
completing an activity programme and continuing to be active
afterwards.
11. Contribution to Health Award
This award is for an individual (of any age), group or club
which has had a
significant impact on the lives of others, helping others to take
up and or increase their physical activity and improve their health
and wellbeing.
12. Junior Active Achiever Award (5- 19 years)
This award is for any individual, aged 5 - 19 years who has
improved their health and wellbeing by greatly increasing their
physical activity levels. Someone who has made lifestyle changes to
build in regular activity as part of their daily living.
Changes may include walking or cycling to school, becoming a
regular member of an activity club and or completing an activity
programme and continuing to be active afterwards
Nominations
Using the criteria and guidance in each category, please make

Judging is based on the evidence that is provided, so please
ensure all key achievements and developments are detailed.
