Coaching and volunteering

A coach education programme was launched to bring courses
into the borough to benefit our community in September
2009. Knowsley Council offer courses directly from
National Governing Bodies to get people started in coaching or to
help you develop and improve as a coach.
We also offer courses to support coaches and clubs to develop
through Running Sport and Sports Coach UK courses. Full
information can be found in our Get Qualified Booklet.

Funding for qualifications
Knowsley Council can support access to funding for
individuals to gain sports related qualification. Through
“Recruit into Coaching” we can fund up to one-hundred-per-cent
of the cost of Level 1 National Governing Body awards in return for
volunteering within sports development activities.
Get Qualified North West is a source of funding to
provide up to sixty-per-cent of funding for level 2 and level
3 National Governing Body awards. Volunteering is an excellent way
to give back to your local community, it looks good on your CV and
can provide the necessary stepping stones to gaining
employment. We offer volunteering opportunities within our
sessions for coaches and at our events.
We can also work with clubs to support further volunteering
opportunities such as website development, team management and
committee members.
