Homophobic crime is a hate crime.

Crimes which are mainly or partly motivated by animosity towards lesbians, gay men or bisexuals, and may include:

  • Verbal abuse and name calling.
  • Having your property defaced with anti- lesbian or anti-gay slogans.
  • Being robbed in the street or burgled at home.
  • Being attacked outside gay bars or other venues.
  • Rape or sexual assault.
Merseyside Police work with the Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual (LGB) communities in order to make sure their concerns about homophobic crime are met.
