Prescot, Whiston Cronton and Knowsley Village
The area of Prescot, Whiston, Cronton and
Knowsley Village is made up of the some the most picturesque
locations in Knowsley.
Prescot was famous for its pottery industry,
centering around Eccleston Street, and for its clock and watch
making expertise. It boasts desirable residential areas, and the
award-winning Prescot Museum, which captures the area’s history.
There’s also a historic and bustling town centre, including leading
high street names such as Tesco, Next and JJB.
Knowsley Park Centre for Learning also offers
top quality education and community facilities.
Whiston is historically linked to coal mining.
The area also boasts desirable residential housing as well as award
winning parks, such as Henley Park and the beautiful Stadt Moers
Park. The most well known landmark in Whiston is the hospital. It
is famous for its expertise in dealing with burns injuries and has
recently undergone a massive redevelopment under the Government’s
Private Finance Initiative. St Edmund Arrowsmith High School also
offers a world class educational environment and impressive
community facilities.
Cronton is a unique and beautiful area which
is also partly a conservation area. The smithy and village
stocks are also local historic landmarks. Pex Hill Country
Park is a unique recreational site, having fantastic panoramic
views over the surrounding area.
Knowsley Village retains much of its 19th
century charm, with an abundance of typical estate cottages, post
office and alms houses. Knowsley Village is also home to Knowsley
Hall, and to the internationally known and prime tourist attraction
Knowsley Safari Park.
