Your Neighbourhood

Do you ‘Love where you Live?’
Knowsley is one of 10 councils nationwide leading the ‘Love
where you live’ campaign – backed by Keep Britain Tidy – aimed at
inspiring residents to think about their communities and take
action to reduce litter.
The campaign launches on 19 September with a
high profile national and local Visit
Keep Britain Tidy for more information about the campaign.
Knowsley Council is committed to working
with and for residents to create neighbourhoods that are strong,
attractive and thriving.
Neighbourhood Management
The purpose of Neighbourhood Management in Knowsley is to work
to improve the quality of life for people living and working in
Knowsley's neighbourhoods.
We aim to do this by:
- Improving the ways services are delivered across the
borough
- Improving access to services for residents and other service
users
- Joining up services to maximise efficiency and
effectiveness
- Re-allocating mainstream council resources to meet local
need
- Changing and developing the council's corporate policies to
meet neighbourhood need
Knowsley has six area partnership boards, which have been
created to guide and direct the way public services are delivered
in communities across the borough. The six boards represent:
Each of these areas also has a dedicated Neighbourhood Team,
which works with partner organisations such as Merseyside Police,
the NHS and PCT, community groups and residents to improve the
quality of life and services for local people. The teams also work
hard to ensure that neighbourhoods are safe, clean and green, and
to address issues relevant to the specific area they
serve.
Examples of the work done by Neighbourhood Management Teams
include:
Three key objectives have been developed to achieve these goals.
The first objective is to develop and deliver neighbourhood
agreements with partners and communities. The second objective is
to engage communities to play an active role in improving their
neighbourhoods.Thirdly, Neighbourhood Management Teams are working
to improve the performance of public services in Knowsley.
Through the delivery of these objectives we are working to
narrow the inequality gap between Knowsley's neighbourhoods and
other neighbourhoods in England.
Community Empowerment Strategy
Knowsley Council has developed a new Community Empowerment
Strategy (PDF, 350kb) aimed at giving residents, communities
and local organisations more power to make things happen in their
neighbourhoods. The framework outlines the way in which the council
and its partners work together to create empowered communities.
