Street services

The council is responsible for making sure our roads are clear, well lit and safe in hazardous conditions and we provide a number of services to ensure that our roads and highways are well maintained including:

• A Traffic Signal Unit to make sure traffic lights are checked regularly and problems dealt with efficiently.
• Road and highway maintenance team to make sure the public highway is as safe as possible.
• A street cleaning service to help keep our neighbourhoods clean and free from litter, flytipping and graffiti.
• Traffic signs and road markings are placed on the highway to inform drivers, cyclists and pedestrians about the road ahead.
• Snow clearing and winter gritting

24 hour emergency service

We also provide a 24hour emergency service that responds to situations such as dangerous potholes, footways, flooding and road traffic accidents.
