Still time to share your views on council investment in
Kirkby
9 January 2012
As part of the plans to regenerate Kirkby, the council has
pledged £13 million of investment into public services in the town
centre.
A consultation has been underway since December and residents
have until 5pm on Friday, 20th January 2012 to share their
views.
If you would like to take part, keep an eye out for council
officers who are out and about in the town centre asking people for
their views. Alternatively you can pick up a leaflet in Kirkby One
Stop Shop or Kirkby Library, or
complete the questionnaire online.
Once the consultation has closed, the community’s comments and
opinions will be analysed and used to develop more detailed plans.
Proposals with be shared with the community early next year.
This council investment is part of wider plans to regenerate the
town, which will see more than £200 million of private sector
investment come into Kirkby to create a new Tesco superstore,
additional retail space and other improvements to the town
centre.
This private sector investment is alongside other projects
including the creation of a new £7 million health centre, more than
£10 million invested in new housing developments and £0.5 million
worth of improvements to cycle ways to better connect residential
areas to the town centre and industrial park.
