Today marks the 20th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster in
which 96 Liverpool fans tragically lost their lives.
To mark the occasion and to pay respect to the people and
families affected by this tragedy, commemorative events are being
held across Merseyside.
As a mark of respect, we will be flying the flag at half mast
all day on the Municipal Buildings at Huyton and Kirkby as well as
the Prescot Registry Office and observing a 2 minute silence at
3.06pm.
Anyone wishing to gather together to mark the
anniversary can assemble at the Hillsborough Memorial in the
Huyton One Stop Shop or at the flag poles just outside the Huyton
and Kirkby buildings.
Local businesses and taxi companies have also been invited to
observe the 2 minute silence.
