Homelessness advice for young people
We aim to offer services that help to prevent
young people becoming homeless.
Mediation
Mediation is a process of discussion and
negotiation. It helps you to find answers to problems in the
best interests of everyone involved. It is run on behalf of
the council by Knowsley Supported Lodgings.
It is not about who is right or wrong and
mediators do not take sides. Mediation is free, confidential
and voluntary, so you can stop whenever you want. Taking part
in mediation does not hold up your housing application.
If any of the following statements are
applicable to you, we may be able to help you through the mediation
service:
- You are under 25 years of age.
- You are having problems at home which may
lead to homelessness.
- You need help trying to live together.
- You need help and support to enable you to
move from home.
How does it work?
Mediators will see all parties separately at
first. This helps everyone to know what to expect from
mediation. If both parties agree, we will arrange an
appointment so we can discuss the problem together. We help
you find solutions but you make your own decisions.
Will it work for me?
It may be that just talking about the problem
helps you find a solution. If it doesn't work then we can
help you to consider other options.
