2. Is there a charge for this service?

Yes a £10 charge will apply for the collection of up to 5 items and a £20 charge for collection of between 6 and 10 items.

Why is there a charge for this service?

The council, like many others in the country, has introduced a charge in response to rising waste disposal costs. The charge has been kept to a minimum and we believe that it offers excellent value for money.

3. How many items will you collect?

We can collect up to a maximum of five main items per booking (£10).

Merseyside Waste Disposal Authority (MWDA) operates two Household Waste Recycling Centres in Knowsley:

  • Depot Road, Kirkby
  • Ellis Ashton Street, Huyton

Visit the MWDA website for further details or contact 0151 255 1444. Alternatively, offer the items to a family member, friend or consider donating items to a local charity shop.

6. How do I know when you will collect my items?

Your date of collection will be confirmed at the time of booking.

We aim to provide this service within seven working days of your request. We do not specify a time for collection, but items will be collected anytime between 7.30am and 2.30pm on the agreed day of collection.

A ‘confirmation card’ will be posted through your door confirming that the collection has taken place.

7. Where do I leave items for collection?

Please leave your clearly labelled items at the front of your property. Items must be presented for collection by 7.30am on your collection day.

8. Why did you not collect my items?

If it is after 2.30pm on the collection day, we may have been unable to remove the items for the following reasons:

  •  No access to items. At the time of the booking we will ask you to leave items in an agreed location.
  • Additional items. Our crews are instructed to remove only those items on the booking sheet. This is to make sure they do not accidentally remove items not meant for us and have enough room in the vehicle to collect all items booked in for that day. The collections are managed to ensure that all items will fit on the collection vehicle so please do not take offence if we refuse to take any additional items which were not identified at the time of booking.

In the event that items are not collected, a ‘non-collection notice’ will be posted through the door advising you why the items have not been collected, eg not presented on time, additional items not declared at the time of booking etc. The notice also provides key contact information.
