Recycling bins

We collect your grey and blue recycle bins fortnightly and
your general and food waste weekly. You should bring your bins
to your collection point by 7am on your collection day.

find out your collection day.

Suspension of the green waste (blue bin) collection
service
The council will be suspending its green garden waste collection
service during the period Monday 21st November 20011 to Friday 24th
February 2012.
Green waste can be taken to the Household Waste Recycling
Centres at Ellis Ashton Street (Huyton) or Depot Road (Kirkby)
during this time. Shredded paper can be stored in the blue bin over
the winter period.
What can I put in my bins?
Grey bin
- Food and cereal boxes
- Cardboard
- Phone books
- Food tins and drink cans (place lids inside cans)
- Glass bottles and jars
- Plastic bottles
- Envelopes (please remove windows)
- Papers, newspapers and magazines
Please do not place items in plastic bags and
remember to rinse bottles, jars, cans and tins.
Blue Bin
- Lawn mowings
- Shredded paper
- Finished flowers
- Prunings
- Hedge clippings
- Leaves
- We will not accept rubble, soil, turf, paper, plastics, metal,
glass, clothes, food scraps or general refuse.
Grey food waste caddy 
- Meat and fish - raw and cooked including small bones
- All dairy products such as eggs and cheese
- Fruit and vegetables - raw and cooked
- Egg shells
- Bread, cakes and pastries
- Rice, pasta, cereals and beans
- All leftover food from your plates
- Tea leaves, tea bags and coffee grounds
We will not accept:
- Packaging of any sort
- Plastic bags
- Liquid
- Cooking oil or liquid fat.

Maroon bin
- General waste and items that cannot be recycled.
- We will not accept building materials or rubble.
