Knowsley Council and its partners have committed to improving the quality of the local environment by adopting a Cleaner, Safer, Greener Charter for the Borough.

What is a Cleaner, Safer, Greener Charter?

It is a voluntary agreement between the Council, its partners and the public of Knowsley to work together to improve the appearance and quality of local neighbourhoods and public open spaces, whilst advising our residents what standards of performance they can expect from service providers in Knowsley.

What is a cleaner, safer and greener neighbourhood?

The charter outlines what a cleaner, safer, greener neighbourhood should look and feel like, for example:

Cleaner

Well maintained streets which are free from litter, graffiti, fly- posting and fly-tipping.

Safer

Well-lit neighbourhoods free from nuisance and anti-social behaviour.

Greener

Parks that are attractive and inviting and full of people but not blighted by dumped rubbish or abandoned vehicles.

Charter Vision

“This Charter represents the commitment from Knowsley Council and its partners to ensure that Knowsley has a clean, safe and green environment with attractive, sustainable neighbourhoods that provide a sense of place and community, together with vibrant and welcoming town centre. The Charter is an opportunity for all of us to work together to deliver the priorities in the Sustainable Communities Strategy that will make Knowsley the borough of choice.”

The Pledge

We all share the vision for a Cleaner, Safer and Greener Borough. We will seek to work together with our local communities and with all service providers to ensure that service delivery meets, and, where possible, exceeds the needs of local people, and help make Knowsley a safe, clean and attractive borough to live, work and enjoy.

How can we obtain copies of the charter?

Full versions of the charter will be available in One-stop-shops and public libraries. Full copies can also be downloaded, or to receive a copy by post, ring 0151 443 2400.

A summary leaflet has been produced which is being distributed to homes across Knowsley.

How can I get involved?

Make a personal pledge on-line to help improve the quality of the local environment in Knowsley: The drive to improve the quality, cleanliness and safety of our neighbourhoods will largely depend on the involvement of local communities – working alongside service providers.

You really can make a difference.
