Environment, recycling and waste

Knowsley strives to improve the quality of the local environment. We encourage our residents to recycle valuable resources and adopt ‘green’ methods to reduce waste.  This section provides information on Green Knowsley and how we monitor environmental health issues and rubbish, waste and recycling services.

The council is responsible for environmental health issues in Knowsley. In this section you can find out about pest control problems and dangerous dogs. It also looks at food safety and pollution.

Recycling is making new items out of unwanted things that you normally throw away. By recycling we are reducing the amount of rubbish that is sent to landfill, conserving natural resources and reducing pollution.

In addition to your weekly household waste collections and fortnightly collection of your recycling bins, we also provide a service to collect any bulky items or hazardous waste that you need to dispose of.

Skip

The council does not provide a skip hire service but residents should be aware that skip hire companies should follow regulations and have a skip permit.
