Flood Risk and Water Management
Strategic Flood Risk Assessment
The Strategic Flood Risk Assessment was completed by Atkins for
Knowsley Council and Sefton Council. The main purpose of the SFRA
is to provide a strategic overview of flood risk in Knowsley,
focusing on future development; it does not provide a detailed risk
of flooding for individual existing properties, and should not be
used for this purpose. The report was completed in June 2009.

NB. Since completion of the SFRA the council has been reviewing
information relating to surface water flooding. Updated information
can be found in the recently published PFRA.
Preliminary Flood Risk
Assessment
Under the Flood Risk Regulations 2009, the
Council has a duty to review local sources of potential flood risk
in relation to surface water, groundwater and ordinary watercourses
and to produce a Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment (PFRA)
report. The report was submitted to the Environment Agency at
the end of June 2011 and approved in October
2011.
According to the guidelines set by the
Environment Agency / DEFRA, Knowsley does not have a nationally
significant flood risk.
