Knowsley Joint Strategic Needs Assessment

Over recent months, Knowsley PCT, Knowsley Council, local people and other stakeholders have been working together to identify the top needs of the Borough's residents to improve health and wellbeing for people in Knowsley.

In a process called Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA), all the available local and national statistics have been reviewed to understand the most important issues that affect health and wellbeing in Knowsley, combined with a huge amount of local information from Knowsley people and from research.

Over 1,000 local people and stakeholders have been involved in the process, including a series of public meetings in January, public and stakeholder meetings in May, and through over 500 interviews carried out on streets across Knowsley in June.

The needs identified by this work will inform what Knowsley Primary Care Trust, Knowsley Council, and local stakeholders and organisations should focus on to improve health and wellbeing for all in Knowsley. Identifying needs does not mean that they are the only things that are important, or that the NHS and its partners will stop doing other things. Rather it means that the NHS and its partners are clear about the biggest issues to be addressed that will bring most benefit and improve health and wellbeing for all.
