Free carnival summer school in Knowsley
A free Carnival Summer School is taking place at Spaces for
Sport and Art in Kirkby, Whiston and Huyton on 21 to 25 July, 10 am
– 3 pm
Funded by the Capital of Culture the activities are in preparation
for a performance to launch the Knowsley Liverpool International
Youth Soccer Tournament on the July 29 in front of an international
audience.
The summer school will involve dance, samba drumming and carnival
arts which will include making carnival costumes, banners and large
carnival structures and is free for all children aged 9 -19,
Beatlife will be delivering the drumming workshops and some of the
best carnival artists in Merseyside will be running the carnival
making activities. Children will have an opportunity to try all
three activities and choose one to concentrate on leading up to the
performance on the 29th July.
There are 40 places, which will be allocated on a first come first
served basis, at each summer school.
Participants must return registration forms with their
parents’ signature before they can take part.
