Opportunities for bands and musicians

Knowsley has a history of success in the music industry, with a number of bands and artists coming from the area such as; The La’s, Space, The Coral and the Zutons.

A new initiative called ‘Reverberate’ aims to unearth the wealth of existing local talent in Knowsley with an exciting programme of musical activities, workshops and events through 2008 and beyond.

Knowsley Arts Officer Dave Wycherley said “We want to help and encourage any budding Knowsley bands and musicians to come out of their garages and rehearsal rooms and to get involved. Reverberate will give bands and musicians a fantastic opportunity to take their first steps up the music industry ladder”. The programme includes; showcase gigs, music workshops, music industry training, a young promoters network and even a small scale regional touring network.

Another part of the programme of activities includes ‘Streetwaves’ which is an exciting music challenge that provides an opportunity for local bands and musicians aged between 16 and 25 to perform live in their local neighbourhood heats. One lucky band will have the chance to appear live at the Mathew Street Music Festival and Creamfields 2008 as well as having the chance to record in a professional studio.
