Have your say on Knowsley's licensing rules

People in Knowsley are being asked their views on proposed changes to the borough’s Licensing Policy.

The policy explains how the council handles various licensing matters such as the sale of alcohol, entertainment and the sale of hot food and drink late at night.

Councils have to review their Licensing Policy every three years and Knowsley is keen to hear people’s views about issues such as the prevention of crime and disorder, public safety, preventing public nuisance and child protection.

Cllr Diane Reid, Chairman of Knowsley’s Licensing Committee, said: “This review will give people the chance to make their views known about our Policy and how we deal with licensing matters.

“We are carrying out an extensive consultation asking a wide range of people and groups for their views including the Police and the licensed trade. All views will be considered carefully and will help shape our policy for the next three years.

“We urge people who have an opinion on this to get in touch and let us know that they think.”

The proposed amended policy and other information can be seen on the Knowsley Council website at www.knowsley.gov.uk/consultation/licensing_policy.html.  Alternatively, a hard copy can be obtained by calling 0151 443 3607.

Comments must be received by 5pm on Friday, November 16, 2007.
