Phil has music for the soul in Knowsley

Gospel choir

An uplifting evening of music is on offer when the Liverpool Philharmonic Gospel Choir returns to Knowsley for another fantastic concert.

After successful concerts elsewhere in the borough in previous years, the world-renowned choir is to appear for the first time at the Kirkby Suite, Cherryfield Drive, Kirkby, on Friday, October 12 at 7.30pm, and tickets are now on sale.

Directed by Tyndale Thomas the Uplifted concert will feature a programme of inspirational soul, R n B and gospel music with highlights including songs like Oh Happy Day and a version of the U2 hit I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For. The choir will also be joined on stage by local community groups.

Part of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, the gospel choir was established in 1995 to enable the local community to engage in the singing and performance of gospel and other inspirational music, and has gone on to international performance and recording success. The Kirkby concert is the third year in a row that the choir have performed in Knowsley, in association with Knowsley Council.

Manchester born Tyndale Thomas has been creating and performing gospel and inspirational music throughout the UK, Europe and America for more than 20 years. A co-founding member of one of the first contemporary gospel groups, The Challengers, he has written, produced and arranged material for numerous tours and has supported, performed and recorded with nationally acclaimed artists such as Stevie Wonder and Nina Simone as well as gospel legends such as Andre Crouch, Richard Smallwood, Edwin Hawkins and Jessie Dixon.

Tickets are priced £6.50 or £4.50 concessions, with group offers available. They are now on sale and can be purchased from the Kirkby Suite (tel. 0151 443 4063), Huyton Suite (tel. 443 3761), Kirkby Library (tel. 443 4289) or direct from Knowsley Council Arts Service on 443 5619.
