Youngsters learn cricket skills with Hustle

Thirty young people from across Knowsley attended a two day
coaching camp at Whitefield Cricket Club to brush up on their
cricket skills.
The camp, funded by Knowsley Council’s Summer Hustle
Programme, is part of the council’s new approach to make sure
that children and young people have plenty to do during the school
holidays.
Two fully qualified English Cricket Board coaches ran the camp
assisted by Majid Majeed, a first class Pakistani cricketer.
Majeed, who currently plays for Whitefield Cricket Club as well as
for the Muldan region in his home country, is widely tipped to
represent Pakistan in the near future.
“Magic Majid” worked alongside the coaches and was
eager to pass on his skills to the enthusiastic young people who
attended the camp during the two days.
Paul Dillon Smith from Knowsley Sports Development was delighted
with the turn-out: “We have had a really successful year in
terms of the numbers taking park in cricket, the input from local
cricket clubs and the support from parents. We must work hard to
ensure that further opportunities are made available to anyone
interested in taking up the game”.
For more information or to express interest in taking up the game,
