A level success for Knowsley's students
Students across Knowsley are celebrating another year of success
this morning after picking up their A Level exam results.
Provisional results released today (Thursday, August 16), show 96.7
% of students from across Knowsley including Knowsley Community
College gained A Level passes.
Halewood College saw a big increase in its A – C pass rate
– from 48.3% last year to 68% this year. And All Saints
Catholic High School in Kirkby achieved 100 per cent pass rate
overall (grades A – E).
Cllr Graham Wright , Cabinet Member for Children’s Services,
said: “Congratulations to all our students on another set of
excellent results. Behind the figures lie months of hard work and
many individual success stories. I wish the young people the very
best for the future as they move on to further education, training
or employment.”
Adding his congratulations, Damian Allen, Executive Director of
Children’s Services at Knowsley, said:
“We have seen some excellent results this year, not just at A
level but in other level 3 qualifications as well such BTEC
Nationals and other professional and occupational qualifications.
They are testament to the efforts of our students, the commitment
of their teachers and the vital role played by our highly
successful 14 – 19 Collegiate.”
The Knowsley 14-19 collegiate is a partnership involving the local
authority, all secondary schools, Knowsley Community College,
Connexions and employers in the borough. Using a more vocationally
relevant curriculum, the collegiate has seen an increase in the
number of students opting to stay on in education after the age of
16.
