Extra security to protect Prescot Leisure Centre site
Knowsley Borough Council and Prescot Town Council have joined
forces to protect the Prescot Leisure Centre site and new sports
pitches.
Around £500,000 has been spent on the new pitches at Prescot
Leisure Centre, in Warrington Road.
They are now protected by extra security fencing and a 24 hour
monitored, state of the art CCTV installation.
While the pitches were under construction, police and warden
patrols were increased around the leisure centre and youth workers
laid on extra activities to engage local youngsters.
Mayor of Prescot Cllr Mike Wynn, said: “It is essential we
protect these valuable resources to make sure they remain
accessible and available for the community.
“Along with Knowsley Council, we have made a substantial
investment to provide excellent facilities in this area and also to
make sure they stay that way.”
Cllr Eddie Connor, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Community and
Culture, added “I am delighted that this substantial
investment is to be properly protected.
“As a council we recognise the importance of providing
excellent sporting facilities and protecting them and the community
from anti social behaviour.”
