Volunteers plan community spruce up

Volunteers from St Bartholomew’s Church are to get involved in a community clean up which takes place in Huyton next week.

Already, more than 30 local people have volunteered, alongside Neighbourhood Wardens and the Pride Team from Knowsley Council, to help spruce up the area around St Bartholomew’s Church, Church Road, Woodfield Road and Forrest Drive, clearing up footpaths and tidying up the local residential area.

Activities will take place all the way through the week, starting on Monday, August 13, until Friday, August 17.

Among the plans includes work to cut and clear the graveyard, pick up litter, paint the churchyard walls, weed and cut back overhanging hedges along footpaths.

Merseytravel have also provided funding for refreshing the mural at Roby Railway Station which was created by volunteers a couple of years ago.

So, anyone with a few hours to give and some spare elbow grease is welcome to come along and get involved!

Contact Tommy Dunn, Area Development Officer for South Huyton for more Details on 0151 443 2460 or mobile 07717 301300.
