Action packed week for Huyton residents

St Gabriels celebration week

A week of action on a Huyton estate saw local people find out information about everything from health and employment to community safety and the environment.

Residents in St Gabriel’s ward took part in a variety of workshops and events designed to help improve the area and give advice on leading a better lifestyle.

Volunteers also helped make real improvements to their neighbourhood by getting involved in a community clear up, getting rid of bulky waste and repainting in public areas.

The week was rounded up with a celebration day at Millennium Green, Manor Farm Road, where residents were treated to entertainment ranging from local young performers (Street Feet), recycled art, climbing wall, ballroom dancing and a falconry display.

The aim of the week was to offer local residents advice about the services that exist to help them – whether they are interested in employment or training, tips on healthy living, advice on how to keep their children amused in the summer holidays, or information on green issues.

In addition, there were opportunities to meet with representatives from local organisations including Knowsley Housing Trust, Merseyside Police, local Neighbourhood Wardens, the IKAN team (offering advice to older people), Citizens Advice Bureau, Merseyside Fire Service, the Employment Engagement Team, Home Start and the Horticultural Society.
