Walking into the record books

St Aloysius walking bus

600 children from St Aloysius and Park View schools in Huyton joined a record breaking attempt to create the UK’s largest ever walking bus.

The youngsters joined an estimated 80,000 other children across the country to take part in a mile long walk to promote the idea of safe walking buses, where children are walked to school with the guidance of teachers and other grown ups, encouraging health and reducing congestion around schools.

The annual record breaking attempt is organised by UK charity Brake, and raises funds for road traffic victims and urges drivers to slow down, especially when travelling at times when children are going to and from school.
