Shape Up With Shapers

It’s never too late to make a resolution to change your life for the better, and now, thanks to a new leisure pass from Knowsley Council, it has never been easier to get fit and healthy.

Knowsley’s new, extended Shapers pass now allows holders to use ALL of the leisure facilities in all the borough’s leisure centres – including the gym, pool, fitness classes, sauna and steam rooms, as well as off-peak use of the badminton and squash courts.

With fully equipped gyms in all Knowsley’s leisure centres, residents needn’t be put off from embarking on fitness regimes because of cost. The borough’s gyms are kitted out with Shapers’ fitness suites complete with equipment such as computerised joggers, bikes, cross trainers, rowers, step machines and a full range of weight resistance equipment.

In addition, the Shapers Plus suites in Huyton and Halewood cater for people who have not exercised for many years, or who have had injury problems. At Kirkby there is even a Shokk gym especially for young people, with scaled down fitness equipment suitable for those aged eight to 14.

Knowsley’s commitment to providing good quality sports and leisure facilities has been recognised nationally, too. Huyton, Halewood and Kirkby centres have all gained the prestigious Quest Status and Halewood Leisure centre’s accessible equipment has achieved Inclusive Fitness status – one of the first in the country to do so.

So, whether you fancy a vigorous workout or a more relaxing swim, sauna and steam, Knowsley Council has something for everyone, regardless of age, ability or fitness level.

Shapers gym passes cost £330 for a full year – that’s just £27.50 if paying monthly by direct debit. Alternatively, for those who only intend to use the facilities at weekends or before 4.30pm Monday to Friday, a Silver Card membership can be bought for just £231, or £19.20 per month by direct debit.

And, if you join with a partner, you can both benefit from reduced membership fees. If you are on low income, registered disabled, an elite athlete, under 16 or over-60 you will be eligible to join the Leisure Pass Scheme, which gives you a further 50% discount on these prices, and the majority of activities offered at our sites.

Ask at your local centre or visit the Knowsley Website www.knowsley.gov.uk/leisure for more details.
