Carers Happy New Year

mayor young carers
Nearly £30,000 is giving Knowsley young carers a brighter future thanks to the Mayor’s Charity.

Up to 80 young carers throughout the borough, aged between 6 and 18 will benefit from this money.

The money was raised during Cllr Tommy Quirk’s year of office as Mayor of Knowsley.

Steve Corcoran, Young Carers Service Manager, said “This generous donation is thanks to Cllr Tommy Quirke who was Mayor of Knowsley during 2004 and the generous people of Knowsley. It will make a great deal of difference here where we offer individual support so young carers can deal with their feeling and emotions. We provide respite, activities, trips and short holidays. We also offer young carers and their families health assessments and link them with other agencies offering a full package of support to alleviate the pressure on the family.”

Young carers from Kirkby, Huyton, Halewood, Prescot and Whiston and others throughout the borough are helped by Knowsley Young Carers Project.
