Fresh Start Roadshow is the business

More than 200 residents have been contacted to date by ‘Fresh Start’ – a campaign launched by Knowsley Council and its partners to create 270 new businesses in the borough by the end of 2006.
Advisors at the roadshow offered advice on how to transform an idea into a fully operational business and also gave out information on how to apply for a £500 Fresh Start grant.
Mercy Chaita, Fresh Start Manager, said: “This was the first in a series of events to raise awareness of the support on offer for people wanting to start their own businesses in the borough. We are absolutely thrilled with the initial response and hope to work with many more residents to give them a fresh start.”
Cllr Graham Morgan, Knowsley Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Neighbourhoods, said: “Already we have given 48 grants to help residents start their own businesses. This and the fact that there are now over 100 new businesses up and running in various locations throughout Knowsley is a reflection of how hard we are working to regenerate the area and provide new jobs and employment.”
Information packs are available, detailing how to get a new business off the ground. For more information, call 0151 477 4000.
