Web Chat With Merseyside's Chief Constable

Merseyside Police's Chief Constable, Bernard Hogan-Howe, is set to open a live web chat with the region's internet users. The on-line question-and-answer session is the first of its kind to be hosted on the Merseyside Police website and is dedicated to tackling issues affecting communities across the region.

Anti-social behaviour is likely to be just one of the items on the agenda as the Chief Constable invites local people to air their views, concerns or ideas about neighbourhood policing and issues surrounding it. The internet forum is one of the ways in which Bernard Hogan-Howe aims to reach the public. It is hoped the opinions of Merseysiders will provide an insight into what is being done successfully by the Force, and where improvements are needed. The event is focused on giving individuals the chance to highlight and discuss issues which are important to them.

The web chat is due to take place on Monday 24th October, between 6 - 7pm. To take part, members of the public should log onto the Merseyside Police website at www.merseyside.police.uk/forum. Those wishing to post a comment or question are required to register on- line at the same address before joining the forum.

Internet users will also be able to visit the Merseyside Police website to view a new video, providing a 'behind the scenes' look into the role of police officers and support staff. The video will be available online from Monday 17th October.
