Going to Big School
Parents of pre-school children who plan
to send their child to a Knowsley
Primary School next year are being
asked to take action now!
Going to “big school” is an important event in the life of any three or four year old – and their parents! Now Knowsley is beginning the process of supporting parents and children as they prepare to take their place in either a reception class or a nursery class next September 2006. But, before anything can happen, parents have to apply for a school place.
For a place in the reception class, now is the time to fill in the application form Even if your child already attends the nursery class of the primary school you want, you still need to fill in the application form – there is no automatic transfer from nursery to reception. Parents who put their child’s name down on a list some time ago at a school now need to return to the school to fill in the formal application form.
So, if your child’s fourth birthday falls on or between September 1st, 2005 and August 31st, 2006, you need to take action now! Don’t delay –applications close at the end of November.
Primary school admission booklets are now available in Knowsley primary schools, the education office in Huyton, one stop shops and libraries. These booklets give parents all the details they need about how and when to apply for a reception place. There is an application form in the back of the booklet and help on how to fill it in. There are also details about how to apply on-line through the Knowsley Council website – www.knowsley.gov.uk.
The Knowsley application form can be used by anyone who wants a place in a reception class – you don’t have to live in Knowsley. The important thing is to make sure you fill in the form before 30 November 2005.
Don’t be late – you could lose a place at the school you want if you don’t apply on time. You don’t need to wait till the 30 November – do it now!
For admission to nursery class, your child can normally start the term after their third birthday and most schools can offer places to all who seek them. Contact the school for details of how to apply and closing dates. A nursery booklet is also available from the education office, schools, one stop shops and libraries.
