Magazines Mark Poetry Day at Knowsley's Libraries

Libraries in Knowsley are about more than just books – as an exciting new collection of magazines shows.

Visitors to the borough’s libraries can now lose themselves in the pages of glossy publications such as Hello and OK!, or read about more specialist interests such as fishing, gardening, computers, music, film and DVDs.

The new collection of magazines has been made available after a survey of library users to find out the publications they wanted to see available – and mean that the library is a fantastic place to enjoy a lunch hour or take a break whilst out shopping.

Also available now in Huyton library is a new collection of literary magazines featuring poetry, short fiction, criticism, essays, interviews and artwork. These titles have been introduced as part of a national initiative by Literature Northwest and Time to Read, in time to mark National Poetry Day this Thursday (October 6).

Essential for writers, the literary magazines - which include names like Brando’s Hat, Citizen 32, Liverpool Stories and The Reader – represent publishing opportunities for new work and are an essential way of keeping up with new writing and writing trends.

Meanwhile, both Huyton and Kirkby libraries still stock ever popular magazines such as The Economist and New Statesman.

So, why not pop in and see if you can discover something new in the library today?
