Knowsley Creates Businesses

Businesses across Knowsley are getting inspired as more than £400,000 is being invested to support the development of creative industries in the borough.

Over the next two years the money, including funding from Knowsley Council, Objective One and Arts Council England, will enable creative businesses in the borough such as artists, jewellery designers, fashion and handbag designers to start up and grow.

The development package is also helping Knowsley Council to create specific workshop and office spaces within the Business Resource Centre in Kirkby and provide training courses and exhibition space by the end of the year.

Cllr Ron Round, leader of Knowsley Council, said: “In Knowsley, we are committed to creating the kind of environment where new businesses can thrive, encouraging creative entrepreneurs into the borough.

“This latest announcement is very positive for the borough as creative industries are becoming an important contributor to the local economy and it is vital that high quality support is available to new and expanding businesses in this sector.

“We've got a lot of creative people in the borough - we want to help them develop and blossom."

Specifically Knowsley is encouraging all creative businesses in the music, design, performing arts and media industries by giving them greater support, business health checks, training needs analysis, and skills development.

Howard Patterson, Business Support Manager, said: “This investment in the borough is fantastic news especially as it will provide training, advice and create jobs in Knowsley.”
