You can now do more online

Did you know, you can contact Knowsley Council online to pay bills, report issues, apply for a school place, arrange a bulky rubbish collection, keep up-to-date with the latest news and much more!

Earlier this year, the council launched a mobile app for reporting issues such as flytipping, littering, dog fouling, noise pollution and missed bin collections.  If you haven’t already, you can download the Knowsley Council app for free from the App Store, Windows Store or Google Play.

From today (6 July), even more services will be available online – on both the app and the council’s website - including reporting abandoned vehicles and submitting a compliment or complaint to the council. On the website you will be able to view your council tax and benefits balance and access My Neighbourhood which includes useful information about your local area including ward councillors, refuse collection dates and local health provision.

Further website developments are also planned for later in the summer, including setting up a direct debit for your Council Tax.

Cllr Bill Weightman, Knowsley Council’s Cabinet Member for Finance and Governance, said “By contacting the council online, you can do it at a time and place to suit you, whether you’re at home, work or out and about.  It also means that you won’t be held in a queue on the phone or waiting in a One Stop Shop – plus, it’s free!”

And there are now more computers and free internet access in all One Stop Shops and libraries. Staff are on hand to offer support when needed.

This is helping more people to get online – comparisons between May 2014 and May 2015, show a 62% increase in online transactions with the council, but with more services coming online, we hope to increase this figure even more!

Also, the council’s website has retained its position as the fourth best local authority website in the country.  This followed an independent review by Sitemorse of 400 local authority websites which are tested on a quarterly basis for function, performance and accessibility.

So if you haven’t already, download the app today or visit the council’s website - www.knowsley.gov.uk - to discover what you can do online!
