You can do more online

Published on: Wednesday, 26-August-2015

The council is continuing to offer a growing number of services online, meaning you can contact the council at a time, date and location convenient to you!

Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you can decide when you want to get in touch.

The Knowsley Council app was also launched earlier this year, available to download for free from the App Store, Windows Store or Google Play, enabling you to report issues such as fly tipping, dog fouling, noise pollution and missed bin collections.

Further developments include reporting abandoned vehicles and submitting a compliment or complaint via the app or the council’s website.  Whilst on the website, you can set up a direct debit for your Council Tax, view your Council Tax and benefits balance and access My Neighbourhood which includes useful information about your local area including ward councillors, refuse collection dates and local health provision.

From September, residents who are in receipt of benefits can go online to check they are receiving the right benefits for their circumstances. You can check your claim details, details of payments received and your next benefit payment.

Contacting the council online will help the council to make important efficiency savings – an online transaction costs the council around 17p per transaction, whilst face-to-face costs the council around £7.81 per transaction. Plus it also frees up our staff to support more vulnerable residents.

There are more computers and free internet access in all One Stop Shops and libraries.  Plus if you’re not confident using computers and the internet, then help is available! Free basic IT courses are available through the Family and Community Education Service – call 0151 443 2026 to find out more.  Alternatively, staff in our One Stop Shops are on-hand to guide you through the online process.
