Wanted . . . . 100 women in Knowsley!

Published on: Friday, 10-January-2014

An arts and wellbeing project in Knowsley is recruiting 100 women to produce their self portrait.

The 100 women in Knowsley project has been commissioned by Knowsley Council and is being run by local artist and therapist Clare Campbell.  The project was successfully delivered in Liverpool last year and attracted over 5,000 visitors at Tate Liverpool.

Whether you’re an experienced artist or a novice, women in Knowsley will receive support and advice in developing their artwork.   Agencies across Knowsley are in the process of recruiting the willing volunteers and a series of workshops will be taking place over the coming weeks to help women create their masterpiece.  In addition, the sessions will also encourage discussions and support around stress management, confidence building, creative writing and building friendships.

The results will be exhibited at a celebration event on 20 March 2014 at The Huyton Suite.  Throughout the day, a series of workshops and inspirational talks will also be taking place.

The works will form part of a touring exhibition and will be displayed locally, nationally and internationally.  Inspiring merchandise produced from the artwork will also be available.

Clare Campbell, who runs a social enterprise in Liverpool, said “We successfully ran this project in Liverpool last year and it really does inspire women – all of whom were proud at what they had produced.  It’s about realising your strengths and the magic of who you are and then getting the chance to shine.  Through the project, we know we will empower women, building their self esteem and confidence.  It really can be life changing and I would encourage anyone who would like to come along and see the exhibition to book your ticket today!”
