Knowsley Council is seeking a range of specialist business consultants for a proposed business support programme.

The council has applied for European Regional Development Funds (ERDF) to provide expert business advice to businesses in Knowsley. To deliver this programme the council will procure a range of consultancy services.

A range of practitioners will be engaged to expand the businesses’ knowledge in areas such as:

  • web site development,
  • marketing and sales
  • financial management
  • IT
  • business management
  • tendering advice
  • quality systems
  • HR processes
  • and others

Knowsley Council has recently completed a three year specialist business advice programme, with over 220 businesses taking part. This has resulted in the creation of 192 jobs to date.

Jeff Hooson, Managing Director at Knowsley-based Custom Glass accessed support on the last programme and found it invaluable, he said: “The expert HR advice we received has given us a real confidence boost and we now know that we are going in the right direction with a great deal more control.”

Cllr Mike Murphy, Knowsley’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development said: “Supporting business growth in Knowsley is a key priority for the council and this funding, if awarded, will help us to assist our businesses to develop, to increase their profitability and to create job opportunities. All of this will contribute towards improving the economy of the borough.

The involvement of specialist consultants will allow us to tailor the assistance that businesses need and to create a bespoke package of support.”

Knowsley Council’s Business Liaison & Investment team will work closely with organisations to support their development and to help identify those areas where they want to improve their knowledge and expertise.

The council would like to hear from consultants and consultancy businesses that have the capability to offer business support services for this proposed three year project. The project is expected to start in January 2016.
